Sunday Supper Menu for a Crowd
Complete family meal plan.
Feeding a crowd does not have to mean wearing yourself out before folks even arrive. A good Sunday supper menu needs one reliable main dish, two sides that can hold well, bread, dessert, and drinks ready before the doorbell starts ringing.
I like a roast chicken, pulled pork, or baked pasta as the center of the meal because those dishes stretch nicely. For sides, green beans, mashed potatoes, corn casserole, or a big salad all work without demanding too much attention. A casserole dish and a Dutch oven do a lot of heavy lifting here.
The secret is planning what can be made ahead. Dessert can be baked the day before. Tea can chill in the fridge. Rolls can warm right before serving. Keep serving spoons, trivets, and extra napkins out before people arrive so you are not hunting through drawers with company standing in the kitchen.
A crowd remembers how they felt more than whether every dish came out at the same minute. Feed them well, give them a place to sit, and let the conversation do the rest.
