10 Kitchen Gadgets I Actually Use Every Week

Practical kitchen tools Margaret uses daily.

I have no patience for a kitchen gadget that only works when the stars align. If something is going to live in my drawers, it needs to help on a regular Tuesday when supper is late, the phone is ringing, and somebody forgot to thaw the chicken.

The tools I reach for every week are practical and simple: a vegetable chopper for quick onions, a meat thermometer for not guessing, measuring cups that stack neatly, a jar opener for stubborn lids, and a silicone spatula that gets every bit of batter out of the bowl. None of those sound fancy, but they save me time and fuss.

I also keep a small whisk, kitchen shears, a microplane, a good can opener, and a bench scraper close by. Those little helpers make cooking feel smoother because they solve the tiny problems that slow you down. A good gadget should earn its keep quietly.

My advice is to buy tools for the meals you actually cook, not the imaginary version of yourself who makes a twelve-course dinner every Thursday. If you use it every week, it belongs. If it just takes up space, bless it and let it go.
